Tamil Nadu Doctors Association to protest in Ramanathapuram district against inebriated DSP for abusing frontline doctors fighting Covid-19

A high-ranking inebriated official in Ramanathapuram district was seen abusing frontline doctors who were treating Covid-19 patients.


Ramanathapuram: An inebriated high-ranking police official in Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram was seen abusing doctors who were treating Covid-19 patients and attempted to run them over with his jeep.

Following this, the Tamil Nadu Government Medical Association strongly condemned the incident and announced a symbolic strike in Ramanathapuram and Paramakudi if no action was initiated against the police official.

"The Tamil Nadu Government Doctors' Association (TNGDA) has strongly condemned the action of the inebriated Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) who disturbed doctors working in the Covid-19 unit in Paramakudi. We request the Tamil Nadu government to immediately dismiss the officer who harassed the doctors who work risking their lives.

The Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association has decided to launch a statewide protest if appropriate action is not taken. In the first phase, a protest will be held tomorrow morning at Ramanathapuram Government Medical College Hospital and Paramakudi Government Hospital. The next phase will be decided tomorrow," stated the press release.
