Banner congratulating victory of Kangeyam's AIADMK candidate ahead of vote count causes a stir; Candidate demands immediate removal of banner

Tirupur: In Tirupur district's Kangeyam assembly constituency, former DMK Minister MP Saminathan and AIADMK candidate A S Ramalingam Murugavelu contested in the Assembly elections. A banner was put up by AIADMK members in Palayakottai in Kangeyam constituency to thank voters who made their AIADMK candidate win the elections by a margin of 13,483 votes.

The AIADMK candidate A S Ramalingam was briefed about the appearance of the banner after which he immediately contacted the administrators instructing them to remove the banner, and also went one step further to explain his stand on his Facebook page. A S Ramalingam stated in his post that such incidents violated election rules and were against the principles of the party.

Even though the banner was removed within hours of it being put up, the mention of the winning vote margin on the banner has raised many eyebrows among the public.
