"Court trials will continue online:" Coimbatore District Judge Sakthivel
Coimbatore: The District Judge Sakthivel has announced that trials will be conducted online in courts in Coimbatore district.
Following the increase in COVID-19 cases, the High Court ordered strict adherence to safety measures. District Judge Sakthivel has issued a notice to the Court on the procedure to be followed from April 26 to 30. In all Courts, there is no longer a 'calling work' on the list of cases to be taken up for hearing. Only a case prepared by both parties will be taken up for direct hearing.
Counsel for both parties must notify the Court of Inquiry in advance of this by e-mail. Lawyers wishing to argue via video calls should report the details in an email. The Court will be informed about the allotted date and time for the lawyers to argue through video conferencing. Documents related to criminal and civil cases should be kept in a sealed cover in a drop box kept in the Court premises and public are prohibited from entering the premises unnecessarily.
Those who arrive at the Court are required to follow all Covid-19 protocols. Lawyers over the age of 65 are required to use videoconferencing facilities to avoid court appearance. The Bar Association, Advocate Chamber, Library and Canteen will also remain closed.
