Customers gather in large numbers at the SBI Bank branch in Uthukuli Road in Tirupur ahead of new Covid-19 restrictions

Tirupur: Tamil Nadu government has announced various new restrictions from today as a precautionary measure against Covid-19.

Various new restrictions have come into effect today, including restrictions for places of worship, saloons, malls, gyms and dine in at restaurants. Only the parcel service will be open at restaurants from today.



Among these, banks have been announced to operate only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Customers coming to the bank are also advised to adhere to the social distancing, mandatorily wear face masks and undergo temperature checks. Those without a face mask will be denied admission. Further only a small number of customers are allowed to withdraw money from the bank or to deposit it.



A separate desk is to be set-up in front of the bank for other services including cheque, demand draft etc. Banks are lined up with barricades and tents with drinking water facilities for customers to wait in line and use the service.
