Echanari Vinayagar temple in Coimbatore deserted without devotees due to Covid-19 restrictions

A complete curfew has been declared across Tamil Nadu on Sunday as a precautionary measure against Covid-19.


Coimbatore: A complete curfew has been declared across Tamil Nadu on Sunday as a precautionary measure against Covid-19. So the Tamil Nadu government had insisted that people should not walk outside of their houses unnecessarily today.

As a part of this, all the roads in the Coimbatore district were seen empty without public.A complete curfew has been imposed in Tamil Nadu today as a prevention measure against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Echanari Vinayagar Temple, one of the important places of Hindu worship in the Coimbatore district, was found deserted without devotees.



The temple was opened as usual this morning and only the priests performed the pooja. However, only occasional passers-by stood outside the temple and had a prayer.

No vehicles are allowed other than those carrying essential items are allowed to operate. Other vehicles are banned from operating since 10 pm last night.

Similarly, the National Highway between Coimbatore and Pollachi in Kinathukadavu, which is always busy, was left deserted due to the complete lockdown today. Echanari L&T Bypass Road, Malumichampatti Four Road, Echanari and Othakkalmandapam flyovers were all found to be quiet with no traffic at all.



Lockdown in Kinathukadavu: All shops in the Kinathukadavu area of Coimbatore district have been closed due to the complete lockdown.

Shops, vegetable markets and other trade venues are closed. The new bus stand area is completely deserted. The Kinathukadavu market was empty today following the announcement of a holiday today.

Also, the new bus stand in Kinathukadavu was deserted without buses and passengers as bus traffic was also halted. Similarly, in the Kinathukadavu town area, roads are found without any sight of people.
