Indian Medical Association requests Government not to raise prices of Covid-19 vaccines
Coimbatore: The State branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has issued a press release stressing on various demands, especially stating that the State Government should not raise the price of the Covid-19 vaccine.
They also highlighted that the second wave of Covid-19 necessitated an increased requirement of doctors, nurses, beds, medicines, oxygen, vaccines and test kits.
The press release also emphasised that IMA was ready to serve the people and also that Covid-19 infected patients should not be allowed to mingle with patients who do not have Covid-19. "Hospitals with limited facilities should be converted into Covid care centers and monitored regularly. All essential medicines, including Remdisivir should be distributed to all private hospitals through the Tamil Nadu Medical Association. Local panchayats impose fines on medical institutions for not following Covid rules and this must be stopped," stated the IMA press release.
IMA requested the Government not to increase the price of the vaccine from the current Rs. 250 and stated that in order to build more liquid oxygen cylinders, a grant notice must be issued immediately. "The Government should take steps to ensure that test kits for Covid-19 testing, including RT-PCR are available without restriction. Those who have studied medicine abroad and written FMG exams can also be called to help in treating COvid-19 patients," stated the press release.
