Officials enter shops during Coronavirus pandemic and impose fines in millions: alleges Federation of Tamil Nadu Traders' Association President, A M Vikrama Raja complains

Coimbatore: The President of the Federation of Tamil Nadu Traders' Association A M Vikrama Raja addressed the media in Pollachi on Thursday and slammed Government officials for imposing fines on traders in millions instead of creating awareness among the public, thereby crushing the livelihood of traders.

He also accused the Central and State governments of not doing anything to offset the impact on traders who have been doing 40 percent of its business. "Bring back the livelihoods of traders who have lost much during the past one year," demanded A M Vikrama Raja.

"The Covid vaccine should be given to all the people of India and the Federation of Tamil Nadu Traders' Association condemns the privatization of the vaccine and thus making its cost high without a stipulated price for it. They said there should be no lockdown in Tamil Nadu and with relaxation of safety restrictions people have to protect themselves, wear masks and follow social distancing.

The economy will be completely crushed if the Government clamped a lockdown again. Instead the Government must continue to urge everyone to get vaccinated. Also, thousands of traders will lose their livelihood if the Central Government did not help them recover," reiterated A M Vikrama Raja.

"The trade union is clear that the price of groceries should not be arbitrarily increased during the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic. Action will be taken against whoever is responsible for any price hikes," warned the President of the Federation of Tamil Nadu Traders' Association.
