Coimbatore district currently has 4,230 tonnes of Urea, 440 tonnes of ATP, 3,780 tonnes of potash, 1,009 tonnes of superphosphate and 5,260 tonnes of complex fertilizers in stock.

Coimbatore: The Joint Director of Agriculture in Coimbatore, Chithra Devi has issued a statement saying, "Coimbatore district farmers have made good use of the summer rains to plough their lands to prepare them for crop cultivation.

The chemical fertilizers required for this cultivation are available at the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Unions and private fertilizer shops. The district currently has 4,230 tonnes of urea, 440 tonnes of ATP, 3,780 tonnes of potash, 1,009 tonnes of superphosphate and 5,260 tonnes of complex fertilizers in stock.

If these fertilizers are sold at a price higher than the fixed price, then the concerned shop owner will be penalized and severe action will be taken," warned Chithra Devi.

"There are a total of 499 fertilizer outlets including the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies and private fertilizer shops in Coimbatore. Fertilizers should be sold only to farmers who purchase along with their Aadhar card. In the event of fertilizers being sold to those who do not have Aadhar card, action will be taken against the concerned fertilizer shops. Also, the price list of fertilizers should be kept at all the shops.

Farmers should ask for the price list while buying fertilizers and complaints can be lodged on anyone selling fertilizers at an extra cost by contacting the office of the concerned Regional Assistant Director of Agriculture or through the telephone number 0422-2432739," reiterated the Joint Director.
