Elderly woman strangled to death near Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Unidentified persons strangled an old woman near Coimbatore and stole her jewellery.
Muthulakshmi (72) lived alone in Pannimadai near Thudiyalur in Coimbatore district. His sons and daughter live abroad. They used to talk to Muthulakshmi on her mobile phone every day.
When their relatives called Muthulakshmi on their mobile phones as usual yesterday morning, Muthulakshmi did not attend their calls. Following this, they informed the neighbours. When the neighbours came and saw Muthulakshmi was lying dead with injuries and they were shocked. The jewelry she was wearing, including the nose ring and earrings, was missing.
Neighbours informed the woman's relatives and the police. and the police have registered a case and are investigating. Police said she might have been killed for the jewelry. The incident has caused a stir in the area.
