Tamil Nadu Hire Goods Owners Association warn that they will hand over voter ID cards to Govt. if COVID-19 restrictions are not relaxed

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Hire Goods Owners' Association has requested the Government to permit at least 50 percent attendance at weddings and public functions to aid their livelihood, or else would hand over their voter cards to the Government in bulk.

The Association's President Jayaseelan and Secretary Sridhar said, “Our Association has not even recovered from the effects of the first wave of COVID-19. Now the Government has imposed strict restrictions due to the spread of the second wave. This has severely affected all the businesses that are members of our Association.

Therefore, the Tamil Nadu government should issue a notice granting permission to at least 50 percent attendance at all public events, including weddings. Only then will those involved in many services like stage decoration, canopy rentals, pavilion sets, cooking utensils rentals and furniture rentals can survive.

If the Tamil Nadu government fails to protect our livelihood, we will hand over all our voter ID cards to the Government and we will bring all the equipment that we use for our businesses to the District Collector's office and leave it there," they warned.

All the members of the Association protested at the District Collectorate and submitted a petition to the Collector.
