Tribals file complaint with Pollachi Sub Collector Vaidhiyanathan regarding land dispute
Coimbatore: Tribal folk have lodged a complaint with the Pollachi Sub Collector demanding action against the owner of an estate who threatened to evict them from Government land, near Pollachi.
Kakka Kothi Parai is an area adjacent to the Kaliyapuram forest border near Pollachi, Coimbatore. Over 30 tribals have been living on Government land for many years. Meanwhile, since the owner of a nearby estate is said to have issued continuous threats to evict the tribals from the land, the tribals have filed a complaint with the Pollachi Collector about the land dispute.
"This has been home to 30 families for many years. Meanwhile, estate owner Ramanathan is continuously issuing threats to make us vacate our huts and move out, claiming that the land belongs to him. We have already lodged a complaint with the Revenue Department and the Police Department.
But no action has been taken thus far. The land that we are currently living in, belongs to the Government. We are also attaching needed documents in our petition. We request the Government to grant us pattaa and to also give us the needed basic amenities," stated the tribals in the petition.
