Coimbatore: Coimbatore district got its first-ever exclusive Siddha medicine centre for the treatment of COVID-19 patients, on Monday.

According to sources, a private wedding hall in Gandhipuram has been converted and designated as the COVID-19 treatment centre. The facility has 60 beds available and all COVID-19 patients will be treated using the traditional Siddha medicine.

The Centre also has separate wards for men, women and children.

"Patients admitted here will be treated only through Siddha medicine and no English medicine will be administered to them. The Centre has 60 doctors and 40 attendants. Patients will also be trained in yoga besides being given 'kashayam.' The effectiveness of Siddha treatment at CODISSIA has already been proven during the first wave of COVID-19 and this exclusive Centre has been started to combat the increase in cases. Only those wishing to take Siddha medicine treatment can come to the Centre. Most people already know how effective Siddha treatment is in helping people recover from ailments,” reiterated Dr. Babu.

The Siddha treatment for patients will begin with herbal tea followed by breathing exercises, before breakfast.
