Woman killed by wild elephant in Top Slip Koomati forest area


Coimbatore: A tribal woman was killed in a wild elephant attack at Top Slip, in Pollachi. Paraman's wife Vanathai lived in the Koomati area in Top Slip.

While returning from the forest on Thursday evening after collecting firewood, it is reported that a wild elephant unexpectedly attacked her. Vanathai was killed on the spot.

Following this, as per the orders of District Forest Officer, Xavier Arokiaraj, the Forest Department rushed to the spot and carried out an investigation. Vanathai's body was sent to Vettaikaranpudur Government Hospital for autopsy. The family of the deceased are to be granted immediate financial assistance of Rs. 50,000.
