City officials advise people to buy monthly medications for 2 months in single instalment

In the Coimbatore district, there are 75,000 people taking medicines daily.

Coimbatore: Last year during the nationwide lockdown, those who usually bought medicines monthly at the government hospitals were given the required medicines for two months in a single instalment. This was undertaken for the safety of the patients and to avoid over crowding.

Public health officials have instructed districts to provide two months worth of medication in a single instalment again to those who are receiving monthly medicines at government hospitals, as the Covid-19 infection has increased again.

According to health officials, those who take daily medications for infectious diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, tuberculosis and kidney disease have been given medicine cards in government hospitals. The public can show that card and get the medicines at all the primary health centers in government hospitals.

In Coimbatore district, there are 75,000 people taking medicines daily for such diseases. At present, they are advised to give the required tablets for two months in a single instalment ahead of the Covid-19 situation.
