Peahen dies after being electrocuted in Coimbatore


Coimbatore: A three-year old peahen that perched on the power transformer in Pappanaickenpalayam area, in Coimbatore was electrocuted and died tragically.



The public who saw the peahen lying on the road informed the forest department and the police. Forest officials who arrived at the spot removed the dead peahen and took the bird to the district forest office to be buried, after a veterinarian examined its carcass. Power supply in the area was disrupted for some time owing to the electrocution of the peahen, and later restored.
