A leopard fiercely attacked a boy two weeks ago at the Sholayar Estate near Valparai and left him with grievous injuries. The entire incident has caused panic in the area with the leopard continuing to be elusive.

Heeding the frantic pleas of residents in the area, forest officials too have been monitoring the area around the clock, laying traps for the leopard in the area. Surveillance cameras at different spots have been placed for over two weeks but have not yet caught any movement of the leopard.
