Kamal Haasan has lodged a complaint with the Election Officer seeking action against those who distributed cash in Coimbatore South constituency


Coimbatore: Kamal Haasan, Chairman of Makkal Needhi Maiam has lodged a complaint with the Election Officer at the Coimbatore Corporation Central Zonal Office alleging that money distribution for votes was rampant in Coimbatore South constituency.



In the 84th ward of the Coimbatore South constituency, Congress candidate Mayura Jayakumar also staged a road blockade on Vysiyal Road in Coimbatore, claiming that the BJP was issuing tokens for cash and handing them over to the flying squad. The Naam Tamilar Party candidate Abdul Waqaf also joined the Congress executives to participate in the road roko.



Kamal Haasan, the Chairman of Makkal Needhi Maiam party who is contesting from the Coimbatore South constituency visited the polling booth at the Government High School in Kempatty Colony under the 84th Ward. Thereafter, he complained to the Election Officer at the Coimbatore Corporation Central Regional Office that money was being distributed in the Coimbatore south constituency.



Kamal Haasan later briefed the media saying, "In Coimbatore South, Makkal Needhi Maiam has lodged a complaint against the denial of permission to our MNM booth agents as well as against the prevalent cash distribution. It is necessary to find out who distributed the tokens as such an act decries democracy. Those who fear failure are indulging in money distribution and there seems to be a widespread distribution of money across constituencies," he alleged."
