Youth Association members extend support to Congress in Coimbatore South Constituency

Mayura Jeyakumar from the Congress party who is contesting in Coimbatore South Constituency on behalf of the Madhasarbatra Murpoku Kootani has found support among youth.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore South constituency Youth Unions have vowed that they will ignore the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections because the ruling BJP government had brought NEET across the country and destroyed the dreams of students in Tamil Nadu who wished to pursue a career in medicine and instead pushed them to commit suicide.

Mayura Jeyakumar from the Congress party is contesting in the Coimbatore South Constituency on behalf of the Madhasarbatra Murpoku Kootani. He has been ably supported by the Indian Democratic Youth Association which has organised intensive campaigns across the South constituency to garner support for Mayura Jeyakumar.

As part of this, street campaigners took to the streets on Thursday, under the leadership of Stalin Kumar. Earlier, the Volleyball Association Secretary K S Kanagaraj, Anbarasan, Balakrishnan and Siva addressed the gathering. They were of the opinion that only because of the series of reform measures taken by the Marxist, Ambedkarite and Periyar movements, Tamil Nadu has become a civilized state with a strong structure including education and health. "Due to this, Tamil Nadu has the largest number of Government medical colleges in India.

The rural poor students have worked hard and risen to becoming doctors. But when the Central BJP government brought in the rule to make NEET mandatory, this pushed many students to commit suicide. The BJP government has created an unprecedented unemployment rate due to its pro-corporate policy. The BJP government continues to be an anti-people regime as it continues to take control over state ownership and has destroyed small businesses with the GST tax," they added.

"Also the BJP party is the one seeking to disturb peace in the country. The state AIADMK has been going along with this. The main task of the youth is to bring down the AIADMK-BJP alliance, which has outsourced Coimbatore's drinking water supply project to a foreign company called Suez. So our Youth Association has initiated a campaign that they should vote for the Congress party without wasting their votes," they opined.

The campaign seems to have elicited a good response among youth across the city.
