Elderly man gets life sentence by Coimbatore court for sexual harassment of minor
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore court sentenced an elderly man to life imprisonment for sexually harassing a minor girl.
Nanjappan (60) of Kondayampalayam near Thondamuthur in Coimbatore district had sexually assaulted a 5-year old girl on March 6, 2012. The Perur All Women Police arrested Nanjappan and registered a case under the POCSO Act.
The case was heard in the Coimbatore POCSO Court, and the judge sentenced the accused to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 50,000 levied. Prosecutor Rashida Begum appeared on behalf of the government in the case.
