2 medical labs sealed for violating safety regulations, Pollachi Municipality Commissioner takes action

The Pollachi Municipality Commissioner has ordered to seal two medical laboratories that violated safety regulations.


Coimbatore: Two medical laboratories that violated safety regulations were sealed in Pollachi, Coimbatore today.

They were shut down by Pollachi Municipality Commissioner after a recent inspection.

Medical laboratories in Pollachi municipality were inspected by a team that comprised Urban Health Officer Ramkumar, South Zone Medical Officer Rajkumar, Coronavirus Prevention Dr Vijayakumar and a few health inspectors. During the inspection, they discovered that two medical laboratories which are operating from New Scheme Road and Kamaraj Road were not in compliance with the standard guidelines.

Hence, the labs are now sealed for violating the standard safety regulations. Speaking about this, Pollachi Municipality Commissioner Gandhiraj said, "The labs were not following the safety guidelines that are provided to them. Hence we have sealed it and the labs are fined Rs.50,000 each."

He also said that henceforth, the companies that do not follow the standard guidelines of the Central and State Governments will be fined for violating the rules on hospitals, pharmacies and laboratories. Court actions will also be taken on them.

Commissioner Gandhiraj also advised peopled to stay safe. He said, "Currently, the coronavirus cases are increasing in Pollachi town in Coimbatore district. The public must follow wearing face masks in public places and workplaces. Everyone must follow preventive measures and cooperate."
