Prime Minister Narendra Modi todayarrived in Coimbatore to participate in the election campaign at Dharapuram in Tirupur and Palakkad in Kerala.
Coimbatore: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today landed in Coimbatore in alternative flight Boeing 737 which is a narrow body aircraft. Sources say that a technical slag may be the reason for this decision.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi todayarrived in Coimbatore to participate in the election campaign at Dharapuram in Tirupur and Palakkad in Kerala.
During his previous visit to Coimbatore, Prime Minister Modi came in Air India One Boeing 777 aircraft which was a wide body aircraft.
Today aviation enthusiasts were eagerly waiting to see Air India One for the second time. But as a surprise the Prime minister came in aBoeing 737 flight which is a narrow boat aircraft.
Aviation Sources said "As per the plan the Prime Minister was supposed to come in Air India one (Boeing 777) which is a wide body aircraft. But at the last minute the plan changed and he travelled in a Boeing 737 which is a narrow body aircraft.
Coimbatore International Airport cannot handle wide body aircrafts without loads restrictions. At present the Coimbatore airport runway is 9,760 feet. But In order to handle a wide body aircraft like Boeing 777 runway length should be above 12,000 feet.
Previously Air India One landed but, the important thing to note, is that it was landed only because of low weight. Wide body aircraft cannot be handled atCoimbatore without load restrictions. Since it was the Prime Minister's flight the load was low and it was handled easily.
If it would have been a passenger flight with full load Coimbatore airport cannot handle wide body aircraft." Sources said.
