Vanathi Srinivasan retaliates against MNM for slamming her as a 'thukada' politician.

Coimbatore: In an emotional scathing response to Makkal Needhi Maiam's (MNM)' members ridiculing her as a 'thukada' politician, BJP's candidate Vanathi Srinivasan questioned if MNM was voted to power, would they view women as equals or harass women politicians like her who hail from average families.

Vanathi Srinivasan has been intensely campaigning in the city alongside film celebrities, including Union Minister Smriti Rani.

MNM members had ridiculed Vanathi Srinivasan as a 'thukada' politician in response to her challenging MNM's leader Kamal Haasan to engage in a political debate with her.

"I was born into a farming family in a small village in Coimbatore and am a lawyer. I have two children. The Modi government has made such a woman as the leader of the National Women's Wing and has fielded me as a candidate in Coimbatore. Is this how a woman from a normal family ridiculed? Every woman born and living in an average family would have gone through the same situation. Hence, I ask the voters to think. Is a party like MNM which can portray women in this light going to treat you as equals?" questioned Vanathi Srinivasan.
