Couple arrested for hoarding and selling ganja: Special team of police appreciated for their action


Coimbatore: In Karumathampatti, Coimbatore, a husband and wife were arrested and jailed for hoarding ganja in bulk.

West Zone Police Chief Dhinakaran, Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Arularasu on the orders of Coimbatore Deputy Commissioner of Police Narendran Nair and under the guidance of Karumathampatti Sub-Inspector of Police Sooriyamoorthy under the supervision of Inspector Shanmugam of the Karumathampatti Police Station and the Coimbatore District Karumathampatti Police Station a raid was carried out on March 21st evening at the house located at No. 5A, Door No. 5A, Pillaiyar Kovil Road.

During the search, 150 kg of ganja (75 packets weighing 2 kg) was found and seized from the house. Natarajan (50) and his wife Kalavathi (60) from Thevaram, Theni district, who were staying at the house, were arrested and sent to court. During the investigation, the accused had rented a house for the past one month to buy and store ganja and sell it to the state of Kerala. They had earlier rented a house in Xavier nagar, Tirupur and had been traveling from Vijayawada to Tirupur by train for the past few days. The police said that he had seized 150 kg of ganja taht was brought using a rental car and they were waiting to sell it to Kerala ganja dealers who were looking for them. Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Arularasu and senior officials have lauded the personnel who acted well in the raid and seized 150 kg of cannabis.
