Recent reports show increased activity of leopards in Valparai, Coimbatore. The leopards have reported to attack and eat household pets like dogs, hens and goats. This has caused panic among the locals.
Meanwhile near the Sholayar Estate in Valparai, Akash (12) son of Eshwaran was playing with his friends at around 4 pm today.
A leopard which was hiding in the tea estate, attached Akash by biting him and later dragged him inside the tea estate.
On seeing this, the other boys tried pulling the legs of Akash and started yelling to their parents. Meanwhile two labourers Chandran and Rajan who were returning home from work heard the voices of the boys and came for rescue.
They immediately recovered Akash from the leopard and took him to the Valparai Government Hospital for first aid after which Akash was taken to Pollachi Government Hospital for further treatment.
People in the area are panicked by the ferocious leopard attack on a 12 year old boy and have requested the forest officials to capture the leopard using a case as it has started to attack humans.
