₹2.25 lakhs worth fishlings found dead due to delay in reaching Coimbatore!

This incident could have been avoided if the booking was done based on the train stopping time.


Coimbatore: Around 400 boxes of fishlings were sent to Coimbatore from Kolkata in the Shalimar Express Train which connects Kolkata with Thiruvananthapuram.

The shipment reached Coimbatore yesterday morning, but the train left the station as there was a delay while unloading the shipment. The train then went to Trivandrum and brought back the shipment today to Coimbatore on its return journey.



When the shipment was opened around 2.25 lakhs worthed glass head fish fillets were found dead.



Regarding this incident Nasser stated that " these fishes were brought from Kolkata to be grown in the Amaravathi dam. In a total shipment of 400 boxes only 180 boxes were delivered yesterday."

He further said that "the train left to Trivandrum, Kerala as there was a delay and when the train came back todaythe fingerlings were floating dead. These fingerlings only have a life of 48 hours, they could have been saved if they were delivered yesterday."

He also said that this incident could have been avoided if the booking was done based on the train stopping time.
