Coimbatore: Regional Transport Officer suspended for collecting higher charges for renewal of driving license.
In Coimbatore, a regional transport employee was suspended and transferred following a complaint that he had been charging extra for renewing driver's license. The Southern Regional Transport Office is located at Peelamedu, Coimbatore. Coimbatore Consumer Voice Secretary Loku went to the office to renew his driving license.
Employee Sakthi there said that he needed to issue two photos in addition to the driver's license, and to pay Rs 100. It seems that he has charged a lot of them like this. When a complaint was sent to the Transport Commissioner in Chennai the regional transport worker was suspended following investigation. Southern Regional Transportation officials said he has also been transferred to Avinashi.
