Police have no leave until after assembly election


Coimbatore: The police have no leave until after the assembly elections are over. A circular has been sent to each district from the police headquarters stating that the police will have no leave as the assembly elections are to be held.

One lakh police personnel will be deployed across the state for the April 6 polls. They have stepped up security efforts to hold the election peacefully. The DGP, from his office, has sent a circular to all the Bailiff and District Police Chiefs.

It said, "Police will not be allowed leave as the assembly election is approaching and all mayors and district police should be instructed. Leave can be taken only for the most urgent need."
