Omni van-truck collision on Coonoor Mettupalayam road: Driver injured!
The Nilgiris: An Omni driver was injured in a collision between an Omni van and a pickup truck on Coonoor Mettupalayam Road.
The Coonoor-Mettupalayam road in the Nilgiris district has more than 20 curves and frequent accidents are a recurring theme. However, the traffic police are constantly raising awareness to drive vehicles at low speeds.
The pick-up truck from Cuddalore to Mettupalayam collided head-on with an oncoming Omni van while trying to overtake a government bus in the Coonoor Vampire area. Omni driver Babu was seriously injured. He was rushed to Coonoor Government Hospital for treatment.
The two-wheeler behind the Omni van was also damaged in the crash. Coonoor police have registered a case against pickup driver Mani and are investigating.
