Flying squad intensifies search following a Whatsapp forward claiming to present gold rings for newborns


Coimbatore: Flying squad intensifies search following a Whatsapp forward claiming to present gold rings for newborns. Election officials were informed that there was a Whatsapp forward claiming to distribute rings to newborns on behalf of the DMK at the Pollachi Government Hospital in Coimbatore district. Flying squad who saw this rushed to the scene and it was revealed that no one there was distributing rings. They immediately interrogated the hospital officials and came to know they were old photos.

Following that the flying squad returned. There was stir at the Pollachi Government Hospital as there was news that DMK distributed gifts to children born at the hospital. Officials received news that DMK, on behalf of the weavers' union, were distributing gold rings to children born on March 1on the occasion of Stalin's birthday. Flying squad alerted by this rushed to the hospital but did not find any DMK but on the hand received a pictureof DMK members distributing rings at the government hospital on WhatsApp. Election officials then inquired about the photo and whether the incident was real to Pollachi Government Hospital administration.

Election officer Vaidynathan said, “The investigation revealed that it was an old photo of presenting a ring to a baby born at the Pollachi Government Hospital. Strict action will be taken against those who spread such unnecessary rumors."
