GPS fitting works begin for cars being used by election flying squad

Coimbatore: The work of fitting GPS device to all the vehicles used by the officers and the flying squad who are involved in the election work in Coimbatore starts today. During the election flying squads, fixed surveillance squads and video surveillance teams will be engaged in intensive surveillance to detect and prevent irregularities. It is customary to fit a GPS detector in all their vehicles.

With that tool, the officers in the control room will know where the particular vehicle is and issue orders accordingly. The GPS device can be used to instruct the nearest patrol vehicle to go to a particular place if a complaint is made that something is wrong. So the task of fitting GPS equipment on all of the patrol vehicles of the flying squad begins today. Officials said vehicles carrying electronic voting machines for the assembly polls will be equipped with GPS devices.
