Coimbatore: Police are in search of a fraudster school principal from Coimbatore who has scammed around 50 lakh rupees from fellow workers by narrating sad family stories.
Police officials investigating the case said that "Karthik Kumar, son of Duraisamy from Kurumbupalayam, Coimbatore was a physical education teacher at a private school. He was well known to Malathy, who is the principal of a government primary school in Ponnegoundenpudur, Coimbatore.
Meanwhile in 2017 Malathy asked Karthik Kumar to help her with 10 lakh rupees for her daughter Divya's wedding. Karthik then arranged 10 lakhs from his brother and gave it to Malathi.
Later Malathy in 2019 asked Karthik Kumar for 10 lakhs to help her son join college. When Karthik said he did not have that kind of money, Malathy requested Karthik to outsource the money and said that she will return them after getting voluntary retirement. After this Karthi Kumar got 10 lakhs from his relatives and gave it to Malathy.
After this incident Karthik Kumar urged Malathy to return the money, but Malathy kept dodging from paying. Later she issued a cheque to Karthik, but when Karthik took it to the bank it bounced due to no balance in the account.
Later Karthik went to see Malathy at her house in Ganapathy, but he was shocked to see so many people being scammed for money stating the same reason.
Malathy has scammed 10 lakhs from retired school teacher Rita, 2 lakhs from Deepak, 3 lakhs from Sivasamy, 6 lakhs from Dharmaraj and 7 lakhs from Rajamani. Malathy in total has scammed about 50 lakh rupees, telling people of her sad family issues.
Post this Karthik filed a case at the District Crime Branch. After receiving the complainant from Karthik, police officials are now in search of Malathy.
