CMA awards top startups, entrepreneurs and professionals for excellence at an annual event in Coimbatore

The event was a star studded galaxy of Industrialists and professionals of various industries.

Coimbatore: As part of the National Management Day celebrations, Coimbatore Management Association (CMA) presented awards to deserving entrepreneurs and professionals who have excelled in their respective fields during a recent event which was held at Residency in Coimbatore.

CMA president Jayakumar Ramdass presented the welcome address and stated that the CMA had come into being even before the formation of the All India Management Association. “With several challenges facing the Industry due to digital disruption, CMA continues to remain active and relevant in the changing times by offering varied programmes to Industry and Academia.”

Murugavel Janakiraman, Founder & CEO of matrimony.comwas the chief guest to this event. He then addressed the gathering on how to prepare for digital disruption.

During his address, Janakiraman stated that “the Covid-19 pandemic is the single most contributing factor for the massive adoption of digital services across the spectrum.

Pre-Covid-19 period the digital ecosystem was driven by various factors such as the advent of 4G and availability of smart phones at affordable prices, plenty of contents like videos, music, news and the social connection through WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram.

But the pandemic-induced lockdown has forced people to buy grocery, products, services and medicines online. Since physical meetings could not be organized, video meetings through Zoom and Google Meet had become the order of the day.”

Janakiraman then added that “ I thought my company matrimony.comwill not be able to do work from home while still continuing to provide matrimony related services to millions of the customers. But actually, it has turned out to be the convenient mode of communication. Another positive fall-out of the pandemic is that it has accelerated the growth and expansion of various tech-industries such as Edu-tech, Health-tech, Fin-tech and Food-tech.

The digital wave has impacted the industry particularly in three ways: Disturbance, Disruption and Destruction.Despite suffering disturbances, certain industries continue to exist, either due to adapting to changes or due to strong fundamentals; the disruption has caused reasonable impact on certain industries; and some industries such as Nokia, Sears and Blockbuster have got severe beatings, posing imminent threat to their survival.

To stem the tide, the industries would have to ride on the digital wave. For this, they have to do the bare minimum act such as having a presence in the ‘digital marketplaces or digital platforms’ such as Mandap.comand WeddingBazaar.com, establish digital connect with customers, take to digital marketing, and accept digital payment.”

During the event awards were presented for the following personalities: CMA - Roots Best Entrepreneur Award was awarded to Rajkumar Ramasamy, MD (Best Corporation) Tirupur.
