Coimbatore: A demonstration was held on behalf of the Tamilnadu Graduate Teachers Federation at the District Primary Education Office in Coimbatore, emphasizing the 7 point demands including the withdrawal of the Central Government from the National Education Policy.
A state-wide demonstration was held demanding restoration of old pension scheme and revoke cases filed against those involved in the JACTO GEO (Joint Action Council of Teachers Organisations - Government Employees Organisations), as well as seven-point demands including promotion of graduate teachers working in the primary education sector as per the Chennai High Court order.
P Patrick Raymond, General Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Graduate Teachers Federation, called for the withdrawal of the 17 (b) action taken by the School Education Department against him and M Ravichandran, the State President of the Tamil Nadu High School Head Teachers Association.
Members demanded the Government of Tamilnadu to scrap articles 37 and 116 issued by the government which cancels the incentive pay for teachers with higher education and urged the Central Government to withdraw the National Education Policy introduced by them.
