3-month-old baby dies shortly after being given drops in Coimbatore: Police investigate


Coimbatore: Police are investigating the incident where a 3-month-old baby dies shortly after being given drops in Coimbatore. Police are investigating as the baby died of asphyxiation shortly after coming home after being given an injection for cold and drops were given at home by the Anganwadi Center near Coimbatore.

Prasanth and Vijayalakshmi, a couple from Masakalipalayam, Coimbatore, have a 3 month old son named Kishant. Vijayalakshmi has taken the child to the Anganwadi Center in Masakalipalayam area for examination as he was suffering from a cold. At that time, a nurse working there administered an injection to the child and asked her to give him some drops later.

She then gave the baby the drops shortly after coming home. Following that, 2 hours later the child was suffering from shortness of breath. So they immediately took him to the Uppilipalayam Primary Health Center.

Doctors there have asked to shift the baby to the Coimbatore government hospital. Following that, when the baby was taken to the Coimbatore government hospital, doctors who examined the baby there said the baby was dead. Following the complaint lodged by the child's mother Vijayalakshmi at the Singanallur police station, the police are investigating the child's death.
