Coimbatore: DC Mayilvahanan, who handled the Trichy Jallikattu protest well has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Coimbatore.
54 IPS officers have been transferred as the Assembly elections are approaching in Tamil Nadu. Home Secretary SK Prabhakar has announced that the order will come into effect immediately.
According to the order, Dinakaran IPS will be the IG of Coimbatore West Zone and Mayilvahanan will be the Deputy Commissioner of Coimbatore.

Coimbatore Deputy Commissioner Gunasekaran has been transferred as Salem Zonal Enforcement Division SP. In his place, Ranipet Deputy Commissioner Mayilvahanan has been transferred to Coimbatore.
It is to be noted that Mayilvahanan, was the Trichy district deputy commissioner during the Jallikattu protest and at that time he earned a goodwill among the people, especially the students for the way he handled the Jallikattu protest in Trichy.
Following this, validating his efforts at the year's Independence Day celebrations, Mayilvahanan was awarded the Chief Minister's Police Medal for Outstanding Service to the Public.
