Coimbatore: Hindu Munnani State President Kadeshwara Subramaniam requested the authorities to allow pilgrims to visit Velliangiri hill for worship till end of May

In a press release issued by Hindu Munnani State President Kadeshwara Subramaniam, He said that "Velliangiri hills in Coimbatore is referred to as the South Kailash by the Hindus. The Velliangiri Andavar Temple has 7 hills under it.

Pilgrims have been visiting Velliangiri for over hundred years during the months of Tai til Chithirai under the permission of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department.

Last year due to Covid-19 pandemic, Velliangiri Temple was closed for visitors like many other temples. But since Covid-19 pandemic is under control, temples are open across Tamilnadu and permissions are given to conduct temple festivals.

But permission for pilgrims visiting Velliangiri has been denied continuously, this has saddened the worshippers of the Velliangiri Andavar Temple.

We kindly request the officials to grant permission to visit the temple till May 31st. We also request the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department to build restrooms, bathrooms and rooms for pilgrims to stay. We also request the department authorities to complete the pending works near the temple." He said

Hindu Munnani State President Kadeshwara Subramaniam also said that the Hindu Munnani members will soon be going on a hill climbing protest.
