Cops arrest two for scamming government by submitting fake receipts at registration offices

Authorities suspended 7 officials from the Registration Office for their involvement in the case.


Tirupur: Government Registration Department in Tirupur is one of the major government organisations as the offices witness a lot of money exchanges during the buying, selling of lands and other services such as name transfer or transfer of ownership of lands.

Tirupur Registration Department generates more revenue when compared to other districts in the area.



Tirupur has a common District Registration Office in Neruperichal area, a Sub Register Office in Thottipalayam and two Additional Register Offices.

Meanwhile the police department authorities recently received a complaint about an online scam which was a loss in crores for the government.

It is said that the officials at the registration department take payments in person for various services and give away fake receipts of earlier made payments which results in a great loss for the government.

After the complaint Tamilnadu Registration Department Head, Sankar ordered for a raid at the Registrar offices in Tirupur. According to that, a team under Registration Department Deputy Head Jagadeesan of Coimbatore Zone conducted an investigation in Tirupur.

During the investigation, details regarding the scam was discovered by the authorities who suspended 7 officials from the Registration Office.

Later the cops arrested Shankar, an assistant at the Registration Office 1 and Jai Shankar who owns a private typing institute under the complaint filed by Tirupur District Registrar Ramasamy at the District Police Commissioner Office.

During the investigation the accused revealed information about their involvement in the case and said that they had scammed the government of rupees 68,93,000. Post this officials are now conducting further investigation regarding the case.
