MSME's should be given priority allocation in upcoming budget - CODISSIA President

We request the Government to reduce the prices of raw materials to the pre-Covid-19 level to compete in the international market and to fix up the price prevailing at the time of pre-Covid-19 as the MRP for all raw materials.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) President, MV Ramesh Babu had stressed that, "MSME sector should be treated as a Priority Sector with a special budget provision. We request the Government to reduce the prices of raw materials to the pre-Covid-19 level to compete in the international market and to fix up the price prevailing at the time of pre-Covid-19 as the MRP for all raw materials.

Banks should provide loans for MSME's up to ₹3 Crores without taking any collateral security. Interest rates for MSME industries should be at par with the Agricultural Sector or the interest should be charged below 7%.

Few banks are charging NEFT, RTGS, IMPS and ATM charges and few banks are not charging. Hence, we request the RBI to formulate a uniform policy of not levying the above charges and it should be made mandatory for all banks.

At present, the working capital loans are sanctioned, on the basis of 20% of the company’s annual turnover. Now, the present regime of GST and the payment receivable to MSME's are around 90 to 120 days. We request the banking sector to increase the sanction limit to 40%, considering the present scenario due to COVID-19."

"Ongoing construction works at the Western Ring Road, Eastern Ring Road, Sathyamangalam Road (NH 948) and the Avinashi Road Flyover work should be speeded up and completed as per project schedule. Additionally overnight Bullet trains from Coimbatore to cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Trivandrum and Tirunelveli must be scheduled urgently.

Suburban circular train service with metro trains are the need of the hour in Coimbatore. The city has more than 1 lakh MSME's and is a top destination for international medical facilities, tourism, textile and software companies, education centers. Due to limited airlines, flying in and out of Coimbatore is delayed. At the current rate, flying is very expensive and not affordable for MSME's."

He then said that domestic connections from Coimbatore to Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and few airports in the North-East of India should be initiated.
