Number of flights increased to 19 as passenger footfall touches 5,000 everyday at the Coimbatore International Airport

Flight operations at the Coimbatore International Airport are continuously witnessing a steady growth which has helped 19 fights to be operated everyday.


Coimbatore: Flight operations at the Coimbatore International Airport are continuously witnessing a steady growth which has helped 19 fights to be operated everyday.

Coimbatore International Airport serves aviation needs of the surrounding 7 districts.Post pandemic outbreak the flight movements continue to increase steadily.

At present the Coimbatore International Airport is providing services to various destinations such as Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kolkata etc.

Despite the relaxation given to operate the flight services, only 5 flights were operated everyday during May. After June the situation has slowly turned around which has reflected in the steady growth of both the aircraft movements and passenger moments.

A total of 19 flights are now operated everyday at the Coimbatore International Airport. Sources from the aviation sector said that, " Coimbatore Airport continues to witness steady growth. On an average 19 flights are operated everyday which helps to witness 38 takeoff and landing moments. Passenger footfall has also reached 60% when compared to the pre pandemic outbreak.

Before March 2020 an average 8,000 passenger footfall was registered. Now during 2021 January an average of 5,000 passengers footfalls is registered everyday which is a very good sign for the development.

Almost all domestic sector routes which were covered before March 2020 have been restarted again. We hope more flight movements will be witnessed in the upcoming months ahead. " aviation sources said.
