72nd Republic Day celebrations in Coimbatore, Over 1,500 police officers stationed to monitor happenings in the city

The Republic Day celebrations are scheduled to happen at the VOC ground tomorrow from 8 am.



Coimbatore: Post the great Indian Independence in 1947, India formed its own constitution on January 26th 1950. As a way of honouring this major event in the Indian History, Republic Day in India is celebrated every year on January 26th.

With the 72nd Republic Day is all set to be celebrated tomorrow, Coimbatore is getting ready for the big day. Over 1,500 cops have been stationed in Coimbatore and more police officers are placed in the densely populated areas of Gandhipuram, Townhall, Central, Thiruvalluvar Bus stand, Cross Cut Road, 100 ft road, Railway Station, Ukkadam Bus Stand, Singanallur Bus Stand, Raja Street, Oppanakara Street, Gandhipark and at the Coimbatore International Airport.



Passengers arriving at the Railway Station are being checked thoroughly before leaving the station premises. Police authorities are also involved in monitoring the people and vehicles arriving from neighbouring states of Kerala and Karnatakacheckposts around the district.

The Republic Day celebrations are scheduled to happen at the VOC ground tomorrow from 8 am. Coimbatore District Collector Rajamani will hoist the National Flag after accepting the salute from the police parade.

Post the parade, students from colleges in the district are scheduled for various cultural activities. This is followed by stunts by Police officials and the official dogs squad.

Coimbatore District Collector Rajamani will then address the gathering followed by the distribution of various welfare schemes to Martyrs, old people, people with disabilities.

Awards and certificates are to be given to achievers from various departments for their exemplary services. Award of Honour will be given to over 1400 frontline warriors like Doctors, Medical Students, Nurses, Training Nurses, Sanitation Department workers who have served selflessly during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Republic Day celebrations tomorrow will be happening tomorrow by following various government guidelines.

Visitors attending the 72nd Republic Day ceremony at VOC ground tomorrow are requested to maintain social distancing along with wearing face masks and washing their hands regularly with hand sanitizers.
