Coimbatore: A fire accident started at a furniture storage unit in Vadavalli, Coimbatore this afternoon. Fire fighters are struggling more to extinguish the flames for more than 2 hours now.
Mohan, a real estate developer (Sree Daksha) from Vadavalli owns a furniture shop named Aavishkaar which has multiple showrooms across Coimbatore.
This furniture store has its spare parts godown in Thondamuthur area. Workers who witnessed fire at the godown tried to put it out by themselves, but the fire spread rapidly making the situation go out of control.
Neighbours and labourers from the godown immediately informed the Fire and Rescue Department who rushed to the godown in 3 or more fire engine trucks.
The Fire and Rescue Department has been trying to put out the fire for more than 2 hours now. With the fire still not under control, it is expected that the company will lose its valuable stocks of sofas, plastics etc which is estimated to be worthed in crores.
