The Nilgiris: With continuous holidays for Pongal, tourists from across the state started to visit The Nilgiris.

Over 1000 tourists were seen at popular destinations including Ooty Botanical Garden and other shooting spot areas without wearing masks nor following social distancing.

Since the onset of heavy rains and decline in temperature across various parts of The Nilgiris, tourists visiting the district had gradually declined.

With the climate getting back to normal along with long Pongal vacations, tourists from Coimbatore, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh visited The Nilgiris in large numbers.

Since many tourist destinations were closed for public due to Covid-19 pandemic, travellers were seen flocking to the Queen of Hillstations.
