Taking a short break to undergo surgery; my voice shall continue to be heard always for my People - Kamal Haasan

The love and affection showered by the people of Tamil Nadu, was an effective antidote to the severe pain that I used to suffer during my campaign. Now I have the opportunity to rest and recover.

Chennai: Actor turned politician Kamal Haasan, President of Makkal Needhi Maiam in a letter to people has announced of taking a short break to undergo a follow-up surgery in his leg.

The MNM President in his letter dated January 17, 2021 assured to his supporters and people of Tamil Nadu that he would use this period of rest to reflect on the learnings and understanding of the first leg of my campaign.

"Though I will not be able to meet people in person, I will be using technology to continue being in touch. We shall continue to keep discussing and formulating the changes that we shall bring about for the betterment of our Tamil Nadu", he told.

"To revive the glory of Tamizh Nadu, I have completed the first leg of my election campaign, "Re-Imagine Tamil Nadu.

I travelled through out the state covering over 5000 kilometres in fifteen days spread over the last 5 weeks to meet with our people. I have returned after personally witnessing the upsurge of people longing for a change. My zest to meet with my people and to understand their concerns outweighed the advise given to me on my personal safety.

Similarly, I have also successfully completed the Season 4 of Bigg Boss which had commenced when lock down and regulations were stricter due to Corona. I am happy that I could interact with more than four and a half crore of my people through Bigg Boss.

Due to an accident a few years back, I had undergone a surgery in my leg. In continuation to that surgery, I was required to undergo a follow up surgery. The Doctors had advised me to take rest till then. I undertook my professional and political responsibilities superseding the advise given, to enable me to reach out to my brothers and sisters.

The love and affection showered by the people of Tamizh Nadu, was an effective antidote to the severe pain that I used to suffer during my campaign. Now I have an opportunity to take some rest. Therefore I would be undergoing the follow up surgery in my leg, as advised. I will come back fully rejuvenated within a few days to resume my campaign with renewed vigor.

I will use this period of rest to reflect on the learnings and understanding of the first leg of my campaign. Though I will not be able to meet people in person, I will be using technology to continue being in touch.

We shall continue to keep discussing and formulating the changes that we shall bring about for the betterment of our Tamil Nadu.

Rest Assured, my voice shall continue to be heard always for my People, Land and Language whenever they undergo a suffering!

Our Light shall shine brighter and broader!!!",the letter read.
