Coimbatore: Rs. 17.17 crore worth liquor was sold in Coimbatore district within 24 hours on Pongal. Business in all Tasmac stores and bars in Tamil Nadu was on peak due to the Pongal holiday. Since yesterday morning people have been flocking to Tasmac stores in large numbers to buy alcohol.

There are more than 274 Tasmac stores in Coimbatore district. These are divided into Coimbatore South and North. Business of Rs. 8 crore 88 lakh was collected in the north of Coimbatore and Rs. 8 crore 29 lakh was collected in the south of Coimbatore with a total of Rs. 17 crore 17 lakh in the entire district.
