Ministry of Forests reports that 650 leopards are present in Kerala


Coimbatore: Ministry of Forests reports that 650 leopards are present in Kerala. The report of the Central Ministry of Environment and Forests is usually published every year.

Following this, the Ministry of Environment and Forests has released its statistics based on the 2018 Wildlife Survey. There are 650 leopards in Kerala and a total of 12,852 leopards in the country.

Of these, 3,387 leopards are in the Western Ghats. There are 1,783 leopards in Karnataka, 868 in Tamil Nadu, 650 in Kerala and 86 in Goa. The Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is located in the Palakkad district adjoining Tamil Nadu. The Central Forest Ministry said in a statement that the leopard habitats in Periyar, Silent Valley, Wayanad and other areas.
