Coimbatore: Firefighters rescue youth threatening to commit suicide from a cell phone tower for the third time in a row after an overnight struggle.

Balraj's son Premkumar (age 23), a B.Com graduate, is from Amsi nagar, Selvapuram near Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore. He climbed a cell phone tower near the Veerapandi section on the 6th of last month and threatened to kill himself. Upon information, Periyanaickenpalayam police and firefighters cleverly rescued Premkumar. Following this, Premkumar was admitted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital.

Premkumar, who escaped from there, climbed a cell phone tower in the Selvapuram area the next day and threatened to kill himself. Premkumar was rescued by police after a 13-hour struggle. Premkumar, who returned home after receiving treatment at the hospital, climbed the 250-foot-high BSNL cell phone tower in Periyanaickenpalayam at around 7 last night.

Upon information, the Periyanaickenpalayam police and fire department arrived at the scene and held talks with Premkumar, who had climbed the cell phone tower. Upon speaking with him he said, cow dung powder is easily available in grocery stores leading to many suicides and added that gutka products are hoarded and sold in large quantities. He demanded that this must be prevented and threatened to commit suicide otherwise

Police continued to fight to recover Premkumar until 11 a.m. today. People in the area also gathered there and most of them took video on their cell phones which disturbed the rescue team. The police then decided to recover the boy and treat him for a mental illness.
