Police arrest man for threatening a woman with a knife in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: A 20-year-old woman from Gandhi Nagar, Puliyakulam, Coimbatore, was alone at home yesterday morning when a young man from a nearby street came there and asked for water. It appears that the young man then spoke ill of the woman and behaved indecently. Shocked by this woman went to his house along with her sister to reprimand the man which broke into an argument between them.
Enraged by this the youth threatened them with a knife and used abusive language. The sisters then filed a complaint and were lodged with the Ramanathapuram police. Investigation revealed that it was Aravindan (22), a resident of Puliyakulam North Chettiar layout. Police filed a case and arrested him under sections of the Prevention of Violence Against Women Act, including making death threats.
