SimpliCity News Impact: 1% market committee cess not to be levied on sale of cotton and cotton waste by mills

Coimbatore:The Principal Secretary of the Agriculture production department, Gagandeep singh Bedi has acknowledged the central and state govt orders and not to levy market committee cess 1% onsale of cotton and cotton waste by mills.

Despite various representations made, this request was not fulfilled for more than 10 years. The Central government in the recently introduced Farm bill has addressed this issue by removing 1% market committee cess on cotton and cotton waste.

While this initiative has given a big relief to the textile industrialists, the delay in releasing Government Order by the state government has made many confusions.

Now, The Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Production Department has acknowledged not to levy 1% market committee cess on sale of cotton and cotton waste by mills and will send a circular to All the Superintendent of the market committee offices in Tamilnadu.
