Organs of a brain dead teenager donated by parents! New lives for 7 people!

With the organs of the teenage boy 7 different people to get a second chance in life.



Coimbatore: Rohith Kanna (17) was the son of Venkatesan and Vijayalakshmi was from Bhavani, Erode district. Rohith Kanna met with an accident on 31st December when he was travelling near Pollachi - Palladam road.

After the horrific accident, Rohith was admitted at KG hospital Coimbatore where he underwent several treatments.

With the treatments not paying dividends, Rohith Kanna was declared brain dead the day before yesterday. Post this his family members decided to donate their son's organs.

Rohith's organs including heart, kidneys, eyes, lungs and liver were surgically removed by doctors under the guidance of KG hospital's Chief Dr. Bakthavatchalam.

Body parts including the liver and 2 kidneys were donated to patients at the KG hospital while the eyes were donated to patients at Aravind hospital.

Rohith's heart and lungs were donated to patients at a private hospital in Chennai. The body parts were taken in a private plane to Chennai.

Due to this body organ donation 7 patients now have a chance to live a new life. Doctors appreciated the wise decision made by Rohith's parents towards a noble cause.
