12-year-old drowns in river in Vettaikaranputhur

In a tragic accident, a 12-year-old boy drowned in the river while bathing near Vettaikaranputhur here on Thursday. 

According to police, the deceased R. Madhan Kumar, was studying in class VI at the Palaniammal Higher Secondary School in Kaliyapuram. His father, P. Ramu, was a daily wager at Vettaikaranputhur.

On Thursday, he had reportedly gone to swim in river Upparu near Ramagounder farmland along with his relatives, Balraj and Devaraj. He was accidentally caught in a whirlwind and drowned in the river.

A case has been registered with the Anaimalai Police and they are investigating the case.
